THE SHOW

For the first time ever, the Nativity Story has been turned into a comedy musical panto.

The Show

Originally, this show was commissioned for the radio. The popularity of that broadcast led to the station repeating the show and an original cast album being released. Which resulted in requests for a live staged version of the show, and here we are. If you want the full history of how this show came to be, check out Our Story

Intentionally, a lot of the show has been left up for the audience to ‘decide’ what will happen.

This will be a ‘panto’ like no other – as the actors will improvise around audience suggestions, and even audience members’ suggested questions and dialogue.

In fact, the actors won’t even know which parts they will play until the show itself has started. Like we said, this will be a ‘panto’ like no other.

The standard show

As booked, this show is a comedy musical based on the birth of Jesus.

Although the show has many of the elements of a pantomime – and is a comedy with a lot of improvising and interaction, the show also faithfully covers the Nativity Story and does so respectfully.

The show sets out to celebrate and bring to life the wonderful story of the birth of Christ. It’s just done with a talking donkey, Wisemen that have to think on their feet, a missing sheep, and so much more.

The cast has extensive experience performing Christian shows. From Feature Films, major HBO TV miniseries, sold out theatre tours, the religious stand-up circuit, to playing King Herod, for the last six years, on the massive O2 stage.

The Alternate Show

If you wish, for no extra cost during the interactive sections, the cast can discuss the Nativity Story as it relates to what is in the bible. The actors will cover which parts are actually from the bible and what the bible actually says. The show will also cover the origins of the ‘modern’ Nativity Story.

Like all our shows, this show won’t ‘preach’ – it will feel open and inclusive for all people and faiths to enjoy. The actors on stage are just telling the story of the Birth of Christ as it is told in the bible and in the Nativity Story. Just as the show is respectful of it’s subject matter it also doesn’t preach or push onto the audience.

The alternate show will still be as fun and funny – but it will also be educational. This style of show would fit some schools excellently along with many Churches. It is available as an option for any show – there is no extra charge. It would likely add 15 minutes to a show. After booking we will contact you and at that point ask if you would like this version of the show or the ‘normal’ version.

Show Start Times

School shows are booked for either an AM or PM time slot.

An AM time slot would start (any time) after 8am and finish before noon. The PM time slot is for if you want a show in the after noon (that finishes before 4pm).

After school times are Early Evening and Evening.

The Early Evening is from 4pm onwards and finishing before 7pm. And the Evening Slows are for any show that finishes after 7pm.

Show Length

The standard show length for schools is 60 minutes with no break. That would translate to 75 minutes for the alternate version of the show. That is the maximum length of the show – but we always work to your timetable and will fit the show down to the exact time you want.

If you wanted a school show longer [than 60/75 mins] you would need to contact us – as that would cost more, and may or may not be possible depending on bookings and time of the planned show.

The after-school shows – are all up to two hours long. Again, we can tailor the length on your requirements. These shows include an interval.
